What Gaming Onion is

Gaming Onion is a browser game and utility site. Everything you open here runs in the page you are already on: classic number puzzles like Sudoku and Minesweeper, word challenges such as Word Search and crosswords, casual arcade games like 2048 and Connect Four, and a set of word tools for unscrambling letters, solving anagrams, and finding words.

There is no download step and no app to install. If the page loads, the game works—on a phone on the commute, on a laptop at lunch, or on a shared desktop where you would rather not sign in to anything.

What we publish

The site is organised into three parts. Games are playable titles with instructions, difficulty options, and keyboard or touch controls. Tools are word utilities that give you an answer rather than a score. Guides are written explanations—strategy sequences for Sudoku, the vocabulary crossword clue types use, opening ideas for Connect Four, and similar walkthroughs you can read before or after you play.

We also run daily games: one shared puzzle per title per UTC day, so everyone plays the same board and can compare results without an account.

How we build

Game logic runs client-side, which keeps moves instant and means the server never needs to know what you are playing. Pages are statically generated where possible, so the first load is a small HTML document rather than a heavy application bundle.

Every game and tool page states its rules, controls, and scoring before you start, and is followed by supporting content—strategy notes, related games, and answers to common questions—so a page is useful whether you already know the game or are learning it.

Where the content comes from

Instructions, strategy guides, and clue definitions are written for this site rather than scraped from elsewhere. Puzzle generators are deterministic: the same seed and the same day produce the same grid, and crossword clues are written as definitions instead of hints that leak letters.

We do not publish scraped article farms, doorway pages, or auto-generated summaries. If you find something that is wrong, incomplete, or copied, tell us and we will correct or remove it.

No accounts required

You can start playing immediately. There is no registration wall, no email capture, and no paywall in front of a game. Optional features such as saved progress or leaderboards may come later; they are not required to enjoy the site today.

Privacy

We collect no personal account data because we do not create accounts. The site may use advertising and analytics cookies; the privacy policy explains what is measured and how to opt out.
