The animals grid mixes familiar pets and farm animals with wildlife that is harder to spot—think more than just cat, dog, and horse. Short three- and four-letter names sit next to longer words, so the easy grids give you quick finds while the hard grids hide the long entries along the diagonals.
Because many animal names share letters—tail, tiger, goat, toad—a scan for a single letter such as T or A will turn up several false starts. It is faster to match on a distinctive pair of letters, like the G-L in giraffe, than to chase every vowel in the list.
