How to play

Words may run horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. On desktop, click the first letter then the last letter of a word. On touch devices, drag across the letters in a straight line.

Harder difficulties allow more directions and larger grids. Use New puzzle for a fresh layout with the same category and difficulty.

Solving the nature word search

What is in the nature word list

Nature puzzles draw from weather, landscapes, plants, and the outdoors—words like river, storm, meadow, and stone. This is the broadest of the three lists, and the longer entries are where the difficulty comes from: seven- and eight-letter words stretched across a diagonal are easy to walk past twice.

The nature grid also has the most letter overlap, because so many outdoor words share roots. Scanning for a vowel chain will show you half the board. Anchor on a rare consonant in the word you want—J in jungle, Z in blizzard—and the surrounding letters fall into place quickly.

Frequently asked questions

Which directions do words run?
It depends on difficulty. Easier grids keep words horizontal and vertical left-to-right; harder grids add diagonals and reversed entries.
Are the word search puzzles generated?
Yes. Each puzzle is built on the fly from a curated word list, with the remaining cells filled from those same letters. Nothing is copied from newspaper grids.
What is the daily word search?
One shared puzzle per UTC day. It is derived from the date key, so every visitor sees the same grid and word list until midnight UTC.
